RGEA is proud to honor Martha Sue Hall of Albemarle with the Vann Langston Public Service Award for her extraordinary service to her community and to North Carolina.

Martha Sue has dedicated decades to leadership and service, serving as a Stanly County commissioner, a longtime member of the Albemarle City Council, a Family Court Administrator, and a valued member of the RGEA board. Today, she continues her commitment as Mayor Pro Tem of Albemarle and President of the NC League of Municipalities. Martha Sue also gives her time teaching swim lessons at her local YMCA and sharing her gifts through music ministry—reminding us that true leadership is found in service to others.

“It is in retirement that we really show our true nature, our character, what are our values and our humanity,” stated RGEA Past President Mike Taylor, who presented the award at the October RGEA board meeting. “I don’t know of anyone who reflected those values and humanity more than Vann [Langston, for whom the award is named]. And now, Martha Sue Hall.”
